This guide covers everything you need to know for a smooth journey, including visa rules, passport requirements, and the easiest way to pay the Bali Tourist Tax for Indian citizens.
Do Indian nationals need a visa to visit Bali?
Yes, you need a visa for Bali and other parts of Indonesia if you’re travelling with an Indian passport. There are various types of visa available, depending on how long you want to stay and your reason for visiting.
The most popular visa for Indian travellers is the B1 standard tourist visa for Indonesia. It’s also known as the visa on arrival, or eVoA. Here are the key details:
- Fee: Around IDR 500,000 — approximately ₹2,600
- Use: Single entry
- Validity: Up to 30 days
- Renewal: Can be renewed once for another 30 days
The most convenient way to apply for the B1 visa is online. You can submit all the required documentation digitally, and then bring your pre-approval with you when you travel. An immigration officer will check your papers on arrival and then make your visa official.
It’s also possible to get the visa on arrival, but not all sea and land borders have this service available. There can also be long waits at busy border crossings where it’s an option.
Important: The B1 visa is designed for tourism and transit. You cannot work for Indonesian companies during your trip. If you’re planning to work remotely during your stay, check out our guide on requirements for digital nomads in Bali.
