U.S. passport and visa information

To enter Indonesia, U.S. citizens need a valid passport with at least 6 months remaining from the date of arrival. You also need at least two blank pages for entry and exit stamps.

Most American tourists opt for the Visa on Arrival (VoA). This allows you to stay in Indonesia, including Bali, for up to 30 days, with the option to extend once for another 30 days. You can get the VoA when you land or apply online before your trip.

Planning to stay longer? For visits over 60 days or for business purposes, the Tourist Visitor Visa (C1) is the right option. You can apply online before departure.

The Bali tourist tax

Since February 2024, Bali requires all international visitors, including Americans, to pay the Bali tourist levy. This applies to all foreign travelers, including children.

You have two options:

  1. Pay online the Tourist Levy before you travel.
  2. Pay on arrival at the airport or seaport in Bali.
